LEMLUX FAQ
Product Selection & Differences
COB vs SMD vs Neon Flex – what should I choose?
- COB LED strip — smooth, dot-free light, ideal for interiors and visible installations
- SMD LED strip — more affordable, but with visible LED dots
- Neon Flex — fully diffused light, ideal for signage and outdoor use
When should I choose COB instead of Neon Flex?
Choose COB when:
- You need higher efficiency
- Installation is hidden or in profiles
- You want better price/performance
Choose Neon Flex when:
- The strip is visible
- You need outdoor durability
- You want a "neon line" effect
Can COB LED strips be used as main lighting?
Yes, but only high-power models (~2000–3000 lm/m).
What LED density is best?
- 480–784 LEDs/m (COB) → optimal
- Lower density → less uniform light
What color temperature should I choose?
- 2700K–3000K → warm
- 4000K → neutral (most popular)
- 6000K+ → cool
What is CRI and why is it important?
- CRI >80 → standard
- CRI >90 → high-quality color rendering
Why do COB LED strips look better than standard LED strips?
- No visible dots
- Continuous light line
- Better diffusion
Power & Installation
Should I choose 12V, 24V, or 48V LED strips?
- 12V — short runs
- 24V — standard choice
- 48V — long runs
How long can I run an LED strip without voltage drop?
- 12V → 3–5 m
- 24V → 5–10 m
- 48V → up to 20 m
Why is my LED strip less bright at the end?
This is caused by voltage drop.
Solutions:
- Use 24V or 48V
- Power from both ends
- Reduce run length
Recommended max length:
- 12V → 3–5 m
- 24V → 5–10 m
- 48V → up to 20 m
What power supply should I use?
Total wattage + 20–30% reserve.
Example:
10 m × 10 W/m = 100 W → use a 120–130 W PSU.
Can I connect LED strips without soldering?
Yes, using connectors.
- Soldering = more reliable
- Connectors = faster
What accessories are required?
- Power supply
- Controllers
- Connectors / soldering tools
- Aluminum profiles
Do I really need an aluminum profile?
Yes, for:
- Cooling
- Longer lifespan
- Clean installation
Protection & Durability
What IP rating do I need?
- IP20 — indoor
- IP65 — humid areas
- IP67 — outdoor
Is Neon Flex waterproof?
Yes, most models are IP67:
- Rain resistant
- Dustproof
- Outdoor suitable
Can LED strips be used in sauna or high heat?
Only special high-temperature COB strips (rated ~105–115 °C).
Why is my LED strip overheating?
- No aluminum profile
- Too high a load
- Bad power supply
Why did my LED strip stop working?
- Weak PSU
- Wrong wiring
- Moisture
- Poor connections
Handling & Installation Limits
Can I bend COB and Neon Flex freely?
- COB — limited flexibility
- Neon Flex — flexible, but usually one direction only
